Two days ago (Sunday 15 March) we cancelled a gig of Hal Was Eh at Petersburg Art Space, Berlin. This band is a very special one and i really look forward to each of our concerts. We usually play very long sets (often exceeding 4 hours, followed by one or two 40 minutes encore sets) in a very relaxed yet focused, ambiance.
The core trio is formed by Andrew Lafkas on double bass, Bryan Eubanks on soprano saxophone and electronics and myself on trumpet, crackle synthesizer and other occasional instruments; but we rarely play in trio – if ever. We usually have guests joining the band and I was quite excited to share the stage this time with Peter cusack, Mike Majkovski and Anais Tuerlinckx. I hope we can make it happen in the future.
Meanwhile, and to “replace” the missed gig, I recorded yesterday a solo for trumpet and feedback in a new technique I was exploring for the Hal Was Eh gig. I took three takes. You can watch the second one in the video above, and listen and download all three tracks for $0.00 (or more) by clicking on the album cover below or here.
I will try to do something similar for each of the upcoming cancelled gigs.
PS: I opened a Vimeo AND a Bancamp accounts between yesterday and today! I need to calm down a little bit.
